Hello guys! I know it's been a while since I made a blog post. Anyway, as you all know, we are to celebrate another nutrition month this coming July 2018. To those of you who are keeping tabs on the talking points and theme in hopes of winning various contests, read on.

The theme for this year's nutrition month celebration is "Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na nutrisyon aanihin."

This means that for this year, we have to focus on agriculture, crops, fruits, vegetables, and green things in our posters. It's also nice to include farmers and families who are planting together in order to provide the community with nutritious foods.

Unfortunately, I don't have a copy yet of this year's talking points. Before I draw a poster, I see to it that I have read the talking points released by the NNC to further understand what the theme really means.

For more information and updates on the talking points, please visit the official website and Facebook page of the National Nutrition Council (NNC).

I hope I can create a new poster to share with you guys. In the meantime, you can check out my previous posters, and see if they can give you some ideas, by clicking the images below:

I love these Seagull index tabs I got. I've been looking for these for a long time!
Instagram is a great source of inspiration. I can scroll through the feeds for hours and not get bored. But of course, that's not productive at all.

And then there's also weheartit. I am not sure if you guys have heard of it but it's mostly girly stuff posted in there. For a girl who's looking for inspiration in fitness, arts, DIYs, photography, love, and career, weheartit is a great website to browse. It has "collection" feature that allows you to make an album out of all the things you "hearted," kind of like a board on Pinterest.

Anyway, I was inspired by Lavenzz Ooi of Penpapersoul and her daily spreads that look minimalistic and cute at the same time. The "parallel time ladder" layout she's using looks so flexible and I think I just found the time layout that works for me.

She's using a dotted journal. I have also had a DIY dotted journal (I made my own because I cannot find a dotted journal anywhere!) but although it's nice enough, my handwriting sucks in it. I just can't make my writing straight and clean. It's nice for making doodles, though, like the roadmap I made for 2016. I decided that I need to use a grid journal so that I can practice my handwriting.

I cannot find a grid journal decent enough for my liking. The ones I found were ridiculously overpriced and didn't look pretty at all.

So, again, I made my own. My new motto is:

"If you can't afford to buy one, make one."

Sounds nice, doesn't it? I've always wanted to do things on my own. It makes me feel better about myself. Anyway, if you're interested in making your own, here's how I made my DIY grid journal.

The cover of my DIY grid journal. I used cheap wallpaper for the cover. I like the print because it looks so cute.
I had fun making the journal itself. The journal has enough pages to cover the "Ber" months starting from September to December. It's light and I can easily carry it wherever I go.

September 3, 2016 daily spread featuring my note to myself: Channel your inspired mood to something creative in order to make good use of it. We wouldn't want an inspired mood to go wasted, would we? Considering it's getting rarer and rarer for me to such mood nowadays.
In the upper bar, I have three columns for the date, (day's) weather and (my) mood, and priorities. My mood often dictates my day and I have the Note to Self section to stop my mood from ruining the day.

In the left column, I have three sections for the
  1. Note to Self
  2. Foods
  3. Notes.
I'm still figuring out what color to use in drawing doodles and section headers. I'm thinking of using black next time and see which one looks better.

It's important for me to have this Note to Self part because I need to have a reminder of my chosen guiding philosophy for the day. It makes it easier for me to tackle the day with a Note to Self. It's like an advice to myself on how I will face the day ahead.

My handwriting isn't perfect and I'm struggling to make my letters as straight as I can make them. The grid really helps in achieving such.
For the Foods eaten section, I write the foods I eat every
  • Breakfast
  • Snacks
  • Lunch
  • Snacks
  • Supper
It's a nice practice to keep track of the food I eat. I'm not on diet or anything as of the moment but it makes me conscious of the foods I eat -- which is a good thing.

The Notes section is for things I want to remember, rants, monologues, diary entry, reminders, or just about anything I want to write that doesn't fit with any of the other sections.

The parallel time ladder inspired by Lavennz Ooi of Penpapersoul.
The parallel time ladder here is printed. Yup. Printed. And I don't see anything wrong with printing it. I mean, yes it makes me look lazy but I don't see the point of having the draw identical time ladders in every page if you could just print them out with the grids. This is one of the benefits of a DIY planner. I am in charge of the layout. :)

I like this particular layout because it's very flexible. It's a time-bound layout which can also cater to what a to-do layout offers. I can play around with arrows, be reminded of my to-do list while still keeping track of the time.

For more inspiration, you can find more images of my planner and journals in my Instagram and Weheartit accounts. :)
Here's what everything looks like. I like this layout because, as I said, it looks neat and minimalist. But the best thing I like about it is it serves the purpose of a planner, which is like the primary standard in choosing a BuJo (bullet journal) layout, right?

How is it guys? Is there a layout you recommend me to try next? Hit the comment section below and tell me what you think.

I love to write my thoughts down. Writing helps me process things and come up with a better perspective of what's going on. Also, I am addicted to cute notebooks and journals! My choices include functional, cute, and minimalist.

My collections of planners and journals:

Top row: Red one is for long notes that are worth remembering. Le Petit Prince is like a diary and reflection notebook. I also write wonderful personal happenings in it. Where To Next is a travel planner I haven't started using yet. No worries because it's dateless. I don't have the money and time to use it yet.

Middle row: Languo traveler's notebook is for my artsy stuffs. I like it so much because it's handy and is so cute! Dream Do Defy is a work planner and financial planner. Prince's handmade Bullet Journal is the bullet journal I made when I couldn't find a dotted journal anywhere. I haven't maximized its use yet but it's where I drew my 2016 road map.

Bottom row: Bible diary for my daily dose of the Holy Gospel.

Although my boyfriend always drags me away from the National Bookstore whenever we are in a mall, I don't think I'll be settling with these good stuffs. I might discover a great journal that I can use for other stuffs like cooking or recipe journal, workout journal/planner, and a whole lot more!

Or maybe I'll just make one. :)

I started making a road map of my future when I was 18 years old, summer of 2011. After experiencing a milestone in my career and studies, I decided that planning my future will help prevent me from being lost and indecisive.

A little throwback

I drew my road map or timeline on the blackboard then. I used my old Nokia 3230 to take these two photos so the resolution is kinda low.

First layout: 18 years old is the starting point and up until 20 years old, I will sweat it out. By 20 I'll graduate college. At 22 years old, I will graduate another short course related to computer. I will sweat it out with my career until I reach 28 years old, by which time I will settle down.

Second layout: I specified that I will not be engaging in any romantic relationship until 22 years old. I broke this at 19 (more than a year after -- August 2012).

So now it's 2016 and I'm gonna turn 23 comes March. Lots of things have happened that I will have to stretch the timeline I made in 2011 into several meters to fit them all.

Road map 2016

Anyway, here's the new road map I have made. It's a short-term one since it's only good for one year. I used road signs for the months. I'm gonna color the lines in the road that divide the two lanes depending on what part of the month I'm already in. So basically comes December, all those lines will be colored.

My 2016 road map. I will be filling the spaces with events and to-dos that are important as the year progresses.

So let the journey start!

For January, I will have to make an account in a bank and submit my SALN (Statement of Assets and Liabilities). Monthly to-dos will be added along the way -- literally.

I already have stuffs written down for the coming months. Only those to-dos and events that I'm sure are bound to happen.

March! My birth month! I have already planned what I'm gonna do to celebrate my birthday.

Ugh April. Thesis month.

Hoping to attend and International seminar. Hopeful.

I dunno what to put in June onward yet. Anyway, there are plenty of times to fill these spaces in.

There you go. I decided to use a road map in the metaphorical sense. Life is a road. There are tons of stopovers, you'll be stuck in traffic, might get involved in an accident, run out of gas to keep going, be tempted to take a shortcut, or meet a dead end and have to go back again.
My brain keeps on twisting things. That's how it works. I actually thought of this analogy while travelling and looking outside the window of a van.

Freebie! 80-Day Savings Tracker!

Hello guys! I've been silent for almost two months! I'm sorry for my absence (although perhaps there are others out there who might found it convenient). I've been trying to battle my laziness and day-dreaming. There are lots of ideas floating in my brain right now and I don't really know what to make of them. -_-

I guess thinking too much is slightly better than not thinking at all. (Excuses...?)

Anyway, I'm proud to present my first ever freebie! It's printable and I named it "80-Day Savings Tracker" because you can record your savings (for a specific day within 80 days) in it. You can fill in the bluish box with the thing that you wanna grab for yourself. For instance in my case, I wanna save up money to get a medium Wacom Intuos before this year ends. So basically, if everything goes as planned, I'd be able to grab one this year's December!

I keep my savings in a labeled can with my record on one side.

So how does this thing work? Aside from the balance column, everything else is self-explanatory. For the balance, it depends on you what to write in the column. There are two ways.

I, personally, jot down the money I still need to save up for. For example, Wacom Intuos (medium-sized) is around 11, 000 PHP. I already have 100 PHP listed in my amount column so that makes the remaining "balance" 10, 900 PHP.

Other people like to do it the other way around. For instance, they write the amount 100 PHP and another 100 PHP for the balance. That is applicable for the first day. On the second day, say you've managed to drop in 200 PHP, that makes your balance [100 (day 1) plus 200 (day 2)] 300 PHP.

The reason why I like the first method is because it reminds of the amount that I still need to save up for. Besides, knowing that in each passing day, the amount that I need to drop in my can lessens is some sort of a motivation for me. :)
